In this unit of work the student will amongst other things be learning about the role of the farmer, what happens on a farm, animals and their produce and the importance of farms to society and culture.

In this unit of work the students will amongst other things be learning about language and how it is used and modified to suit specific purposes. They will in particular be looking at the language of books and identifying the main idea (title) the author and illustrator.

·         Students to identify the role of the author and illustrator

·         Students describe direction of print (eg; left to right: top to bottom)

·         Students describe some basic conventions of print (eg; sentences begin with a capital letter)
