Text Box: Homework Support Group has started for 2007! Gowrie Community Services is offering tutoring to all students in all subjects every Saturday from 2pm to 3:30pm at 275 Abernethy Road in Belmont. There will also be a social sport session from 4pm to 5pm for students to take part in at leisure. The aim of the homework group is to provide your child with help to complete areas of study that they are finding difficulty in. Volunteer tutors can help your child with English and other subjects like maths, science, history & computing up to a year 10 level. Help may be provided on year 11 & 12 subjects depending on which tutors are available. If you are passionate about your child’s education & would like them to achieve their best please feel free to contact Sarah on 9478 7500 for more information.

NEW ARRIVALS—On Wednesday the 21st February 2007 New Arrival students attended a showcase organized by Alicia Curtis from the Multicultural Youth Services in the school. Some students from the main stream joined them and they were all introduced to representatives from some Youth Organisations in Perth. It was extremely beneficial.—Sr. Rabab Soueidan
SCIENCE—The New South Wales Science Competition will be held on the 10th of May 2007. We are proud to announce that some of our students have been selected for this prestigious international competition, alhamdullilah! - Sr. Khurshida Islam
ISLAMIC STUDIES— We are trying to create a positive environment and hope the same from parents as students will be busy with mid-term exams soon, insha’allah.—Br. Burhan Mehtar
ICT—The year 8 & 9 boys went to SciTech Discovery Centre for an excursion on Special Effects & Multimedia Design as part of their IT course. The boys got to act in their own short movie with special effects using the blue screen in a volcano, Indiana Jones, a rollercoaster & a flying scene. They also go to see how music videos with special effects are made & got to take back to school a video of their own movie.—Sr. Kelly Bond
