PRINCIPAL’S INSIGHT
Welcome to the 2005 school year. This year our focus will be directed mainly towards the gifted children and the underachievers.
We have created a new position of Gifted Children Co-ordinator in our campus. This position is filled by Ms. Tania Nissen our year 1 teacher who has participated in several courses on that issue. At the moment she is running a Puzzle Club where the two most advanced students of each class meet once a week to discuss their research on several topics initiated by Ms. Nissen.
Two part time teachers have been appointed to look after the underachievers. These students will benefit from having small group work time as well as tailored computer software programs aimed at lifting their standards in the shortest possible time.

Our results last year in the Benchmark Test set by the government were pretty good but we intend to improve on them this year Inshaallah. I consider the results of this test the most important, as it gives us an indication of where we stand in comparison to the other public and independent schools in the state and in the country. Over the page are the results of the 2003 and 2004 Benchmark Tests in Literacy and Numeracy.
Our school is going from strength to strength as evidenced by the results of the 2004 TER where 26.2% of our students were among the highest 25 percentile of the state. Those are our students who started in the Primary School and made their way up to the High School.
We have introduced the gender classification this year where classes are classified into boys and girls from year 4 to year 7. This has proved to be a success as evidenced by having less behavioural problems among our students.
We have purchased more computers for our 2 labs as well as for the classrooms.
We are also introducing a new self defence course for the year 8 and 9 girls that takes place every Friday after prayer.
We are always trying to fill in our shelves with books in the library but we need your support as this is vital for the progress of our children. We need more books in the form of donations as this is important for lifting up our children’s literacy standard.
Finally, I would like to thank our community and our parents for their continuous support.
