Dear Parents,
" RAMADAN KAREEM" TO ALL OF YOU.
Once again, thank you for your continuous support of the College.
The Australian Islamic College aims to foster a sense of belonging where each student is valued and nurtured to support their individual development. We endeavour to encourage in our students academic excellence, self-discipline, and the taking of responsibility for their own actions. We are committed to providing a quality education for the whole person within an Islamic community. Our students are encouraged to grow as valuable, responsible and contributing members of society. In order to achieve this we need to work together. With your on-going support and cooperation, I am confident that the College will produce students that will be responsible and positive role models in the Muslim and wider community.
I would like to highlight some issues of importance:
School fees are now compulsory. Your child's current and outstanding fees must be paid immediately, as this will provide a wider range of resources and result in a more positive learning environment for your child.
It is a legal requirement of the government that a record be kept of all student absences during the year. Please fill in the form attached with this letter and return it to school for our records. It is important that the reason for absence be entered.
We all know the importance of mobile phones in today's world. However it has been observed that mobile phones and other electronic devices are being used inappropriately. Students are sending SMS messages, recording and listening to music and talking on their phones during class time.. This disrupts their learning and the learning of others.
For this reason, students will not be allowed to use mobile phones or any other electronic device (e.g. i Pod, Mp3 etc) during school hours.
If they are found using phones or any other electronic device during school hours, 5 negative points will be issued. Students can use the phone situated in the front office for any emergency calls. Parents can leave important messages for their children at the Front Office reception. Any message will then be conveyed to the student in his/her classroom.
The College will not be responsible for the loss of any personal property (phones, electronic devices, school bags and money). Calculators are the only electronic device to be used during school time.
The school uniform will be compulsory from Term 4, 2008 and all parents and students are expected to cooperate in this matter. Students must wear the full school uniform at all times .

If you have any queries or concerns, the College can be contacted from Monday to Friday between 8:30am-4:30pm.
Thank you once again for your continued support.
