Welcome to the Australian Islamic College.
Alhamdullilah 2007 has been a year full of activity and excitement. It is hard to believe how fast the year has gone but at the same time it was wonderful to see the development of students as the year progressed.
The Australian Islamic College is thankful to Allah (SWT) and proud of its achievements to date. We have seen our students develop and mature into young adults with a strong sense of responsibility and awareness.
The achievements and activities last year have been non stop. What is becoming a tradition of the college-our students have made it to the State Finals of the Rotary Club Public Speaking Competition.
Our Information Technology students were the first to be involved in a Edith Cowan University project.
Our students were involved in many debates with other colleges including Bunbury Catholic College and the Belmont City Council Art Panel had contributions from our talented students.
In addition to our student growth, the college has seen substantial growth and development. Anyone who has visited our Kewdale College will have seen the magnificent transformation of our grounds. Beautiful lawns have enhanced the grounds and extensive fencing of the whole College ground has secured the campus. A New Primary and Administration building is also ready and in use.
As any parent will know the true measure of success lies in RESULTS. Our student’s academic results and their behaviour are the true indicators of success.
1 . ISLAMIC MORALS & VALUES
Every day I am witness to the result of our values integration. Students are well behaved, show respect to their elders and kindness to youngsters. Students are demonstrating a sincere ‘sense of belonging’ to the college community and this was most apparent at the Year 12 graduation. For the first time our graduates were actively involved in organizing and coordinating their own graduation. SubhanAllah!
We have been put on this earth to ensure that Allah’s commands are carried out.
As Allah says in the Quran:
Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: "I will create a vicegerent (khalifah) on earth." They said: "Wilt Thou place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood? Whilst we do celebrate Thy praise and glorify Thy holy (name)?" He said: "I know what ye know not." (2: 30)
How well do we fulfill this duty of Khalifah (vicegerent/deputy)?
I remind us all including myself that we need to utilize both our spirit to fulfill our deputy duties.
MIND
The mind is to be used for development, advancement, research and development. We should study our environments and learn to utilize our resources to the best of our ability. We should excel in all academic fields and be powerful, influential and intelligent people who make a positive difference to humanity
SPIRIT
The spirit is using our knowledge of the Creator to better ourselves in the moral, spiritual and psychological levels. We need to adopt the Islamic teachings so we learn morals, values, behaviours and attitudes that contribute to the betterment of society. We should learn the moral and ethical lessons from our religious practices such as patience, justice, respect, kindness etc.
In a nutshell, our mind fulfills the secular requirements while the Spirit fulfills the Moral requirements and religious requirements by building a close relationship with our Creator resulting in full integration of morals and values in everyday activities either secular or non secular.
More than 90% of our students now share this optimistic vision of making a significant contribution to Australia. They are not content with merely getting into University and becoming doctors, lawyers, engineers, politicians etc, they aspire to be the BEST doctors, the BEST lawyers, the BEST engineers and the BEST politicians. They are motivated enough to carry their responsibility of being good models for Islam by excelling in everything and aiming high. Day by day they are developing into confident young Muslim men and women who will be a valued asset to Australia, Insha Allah
2. ACADEMICALLY
To mention a few of our academic achievements
It is terrific to see the outstanding application that our year 12 students have put into their preparation for year 12 exams for 2007.
Once again the WALNA (West Australian Literacy and Numeracy Assessment) results have been outstanding for the College with rankings well above the state schools (public and private) average, e.g. Thornlie was 15% above the recorded average across all year levels. It is wonderful to see the application of even our younger students in the dedication to their education
All students, teachers, parents and friends should be proud of all the success that has been achieved in 2007. As it is at the hands of parents and friends outside the school environment that I must continually thank for the effort and support that is shown to our students.
Insha-Allah, It is as we move forward into 2008 that I will continue to look forward to more great results through our united efforts. I pray that Allah (SWT) bless us always to guide us on the straight path and our students continue to grow into exemplary Muslims and citizens, Ameen.

For all that I receive, I give thanks to Allah
