5 June 2025

On Tuesday, 4th June, AIC staff came together for a meaningful and restorative Wellbeing Day, designed to promote psychological health, foster team unity, and inspire personal reflection through a series of thoughtfully curated activities.
The day commenced with a welcome address from Executive Principal & CEO, Abdullah Khan, who emphasised the importance of staff wellbeing in sustaining a thriving, compassionate workplace. His message set the tone for a day dedicated to nurturing the whole self—mind, body, and spirit.
Following the opening remarks, Dr. Hanan Dover, a distinguished Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, led the morning session. She introduced AfiyahEAP, a culturally and spiritually informed Employee Assistance Program tailored to Muslim communities. Dr. Dover’s talk offered deep insights into the intersections of mental health, leadership, and Islamic psychology. Her reflections encouraged staff to prioritise emotional wellbeing while drawing on spiritual and faith-based frameworks for balance and resilience.
Later in the morning, staff participated in a pottery workshop, where they explored creativity through working with clay. This hands-on session provided a space for mindfulness and self-expression, encouraging participants to engage their senses, slow down, and enjoy the tactile process of making art in a calm, supportive environment.
The afternoon was devoted to interactive team-building exercises, designed to foster trust, improve communication, and build camaraderie across departments. Through a mix of challenges and collaborative tasks, colleagues strengthened their interpersonal connections and developed new ways of working together more effectively.
To close the day, everyone took part in a peaceful nature walk at The Rapids, offering a serene conclusion to the activities. Surrounded by greenery and flowing water, staff were invited to breathe deeply, move gently, and reflect on the day’s learnings. This final activity reinforced the core message of the event: the power of stillness, nature, and shared presence.
The 2025 Wellbeing Day was not just a break from routine; it was a timely reminder of the value of taking care of ourselves and each other. With renewed energy and a sense of unity, staff are now well-positioned to finish the term with strength, clarity, and connection.
