Perth — In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Australian Islamic College (AIC) launched a school-wide fundraising campaign in collaboration with Human Appeal, uniting students and staff in a powerful display of compassion and generosity.

The initiative, rooted in the spirit of charity (sadaqah), brought the AIC community together to support those in urgent need. Through various efforts, the school collectively raised an impressive $11,000 to aid humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza.

AIC also recognized and rewarded students who demonstrated exceptional dedication to the cause. The top four fundraisers were:

  • 1st Place: Dayyan Abdulgafar (Yr 1C) – $1000 – awarded a bicycle
  • 2nd Place: Nurarianna Zaara Saipunizam (Yr 4B) – $800 – awarded a bicycle
  • 3rd Place: Mariya Sana Ezedyar (Yr 3B) – $600 – awarded an Aqsa Lego set
  • 4th Place: Affan Nadeem (Yr 7B) – $530 – awarded a Ka’bah Lego set

In addition to individual achievements, Class 1C was recognized for raising the highest amount as a group, contributing $1705.00. The class will celebrate their efforts with a pizza party in Term 2.

The campaign not only provided vital support for those affected by the crisis but also instilled a strong sense of empathy and social responsibility within the student body.
