Year 2

For HASS, students used information they collected through their research on a famous Australian sight to write an information report. Students also used PowerPoint to present their findings to the class. We learned many fantastic facts as the students took us on a journey all around Australia taking in the stunning scenery and discovering more about our beautiful country and its rich history.

In SCIENCE students have been learning about what makes objects move. They experimented with forces, push and pull to see the effect it has on objects and how the object moves. This information learned was then used and integrated into our STEM project where students worked in teams to design, develop ideas and create catapults which were tested to see which one could project an object the furthest. Students enjoyed the opportunity to share ideas and learn how to communicate effectively in a team.

In HEALTH, students are using the PATHS program to help create a supportive classroom climate.  It is intended to help social and emotional competence, teach self-regulation, decision-making and conflict resolution skills; prevent student aggression and other behavioural problems and improve critical thinking. We are also implementing protective behaviours and learning that we can talk to someone about anything. Students are understanding what a network is and recognising who is on their helping hand network, that is, a person they can trust and talk to about anything to help protect and keep them safe. We ask Allah to protect and keep all our children safe AMEEN.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) use to seek refuge with Allah for his grandsons Hassan and Husayn, and he said “Your father (Ibrahim) use to seek refuge with these words for Isma’il and Is’haaq: A’oodhu bi kalimaat Illahi’ttaammah min kulli shaytaanin wa haammah wa min kulli ‘aynin laammah (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every vermin, and from every bad eye)”. (Al Bukhari)

We have enjoyed Term 2 in Year 2, learned many things from each other and look forward to the coming terms in shaa Allah.
