It is my pleasure to welcome you to The Australian Islamic College, Kewdale.

Established in 1986, Australian Islamic College is an independent, co-educational, faith-based school. Its Kewdale campus in Western Australia opened its doors in the year 2000 and offers students from Kindergarten through to Year 12 a forward-looking and rigorous high impact education relevant to the most selective vocational colleges of higher learning and universities in Australia and abroad.

The school is highly multicultural with different nationalities and language groups represented and has a faculty of trained and experienced staff of over 200 teaching and non-teaching personnel with an enrolment of 1750 students. Our school is committed to providing a caring and supportive environment, enabling students to thrive socially, academically, and spiritually.

Our school provides contemporary education encouraging the pursuit of excellence in academics, sports, cultural heritage, and spiritual growth. The students enrolled in Kindergarten enjoy their educational experience with the same peer group over fourteen years until graduating from high school. This unique opportunity allows students to form strong bonds and mutual trust, all in an atmosphere of integrational teaching and learning.

Alhamdulillah, the school provides an exceptional standard of education to children. We offer the West Australian Curriculum with nationally benchmarked assessment procedures. We are committed to offering creative depth as well as academic breadth in the quality of our curriculum and teaching for 21st-century classrooms. Students and staff are involved in a wide range of events and activities and celebrate students’ success. Our teachers are committed to excellence in daily teaching and learning practices with a continuing focus on students’ learning. Students learn in purposefully re-designed ICT rich learning spaces across all its buildings. In addition to providing students access to all components of the West Australian Curriculum, they are offered an extensive program in Religious and Quranic studies. Accelerated and enrichment programs are available to personalize the learning experience to meet the differentiated needs of all students.

All programs are aligned to the Western Australian Curriculum, Early Years Learning (EYL) Framework, and the National Quality Standards (NQS). Our Senior Studies program, which involves students in years 10, 11, and 12 provides all students with a tailored individualized pathway, allowing for informed student choice. The College offers a broad range of opportunities to senior students including Endorsed programs, Vocational Education and Training, and an extensive selection of courses allowing students an opportunity to achieve the West Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).

The school also offers the Curtin University UniReady Program to Year 12 students. UniReady is an ‘alternative entry to university,’ run by Curtin University. Eligible Year 12 students can select the UniReady Program as one of their school subjects and undertake the UniReady Program while still at school. The students can complete this course of study at school. Each unit is taught by a university-trained teacher, in line with Curtin University standards for delivery.

This enabling (bridging course) course provides an opportunity for the students who will not be able to enter university via an ATAR pathway. Students are required to meet certain prerequisites to be eligible for the UniReady Program. Upon successful completion of these units, they are awarded an ATAR of 70. This ranking can be used to gain entry to many courses at Curtin University.

The personalization of learning across the school is intended to ensure every individual student is provided with the most appropriate pathway to ensure success at school, in WACE, and their career of choice after year 12. The vision of the Australian Islamic College is to pave the way in producing upright and moral citizens capable of achieving success in this life and the hereafter.

The school implements an evidence-based learning model. The staff is supported to develop and implement High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) and Framework for Improving Student Outcomes (FISO). The school adopts a whole school approach to Performance and Development, using the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, where planning, goal setting, and feedback are evidence-based and rigorous.

Staff meet weekly supported by the school principal, deputy principals, professional learning teams, and guest presenters from AISWA to plan together and with one another, focusing on identified priority professional learning, deepening knowledge of curriculum, and high impact practices.

Deputy Principal and Head of Learning Area regularly examine student achievement data in a focus area to refine programs and to deliver evidence-based teaching practices concerning student attainment of goals.

The school management undertakes instructional rounds as part of the whole school process to develop a shared practice of observing, discussing, and analysing learning and teaching witnessing High Impact Teaching Strategies are implemented consistently in all learning areas.

Sport is a mandatory part of the curriculum. We place great emphasis on the students’ wellbeing, extra-curricular activities, sports, and art. All our students are encouraged to join, Soccer, Netball, Basketball, Badminton & Table Tennis, something that is of interest. Our students learn the thrill of challenge and competition, the importance of teamwork, and a sense of accomplishment.

The school provides a caring environment enabling the students to thrive socially, spiritually, and academically. The student wellbeing department implements the You Can DO It education program providing quality pastoral care to ensure students are supported to achieve their goals.

The school encourages parents to get involved in school life and appreciates the Parents & Friend Association contribution to the school.
